In CONTROL magazine's Annual Reader's Choice Awards, Orion Instruments was rated Number One in the Visual Level Indicator category, edging out the second place contender K-Tek.
Rhe Reader's Choice Awards surveyed 20,000 professionals representing a cross section of CONTROL's readership. After representing cast their vote for the most outstanding supplier in 71 technology categories, Orion emerged #1 in the Visual Level Indicator category for the first time in the firm's three-year history.
Magnetrol International was also ranked among the leaders in four level gauge categories.
The real winners, of course, are Orion's customers.
Here are three recent Success Stories featuring America's # 1MLI:

After two years of productive field trials, our Saudi Arabian rep, M.H Sherbiny for Commerce, received an order from oil giant ARAMCO for 22 Aurora units-our largest Aurora order in the Middle East. The moderate to high-temperature and moderate to high-pressure applications include knockout and inter stage drums.
With ARAMCO being the largest oil company in the Middle East, this is a valuable reference for future Aurora opportunities in the region.
Our rep, Mr. Mohammed Sherbiny, and the engineer responsible for Magnetrol, Mr. Majid, did a superlative job for us.

In Argentina, intelligence gathered by our rep IPACSA revealed that less than $1,000 per nit had been budgeted for 16 MLIs needed by the Chemical firm Atanor S.A. We thought we didn't have a chance since Argentinean MLI manufactures build very simple units for low pressure applications; but we passed the information onto Orion and they provided a very attractive quote-so attractive, in fact, that we got the order.
Intelligence information also proved to be a key ingredient in winning a 12-unit Aurora order for Canadian oil and gas firm EnCana, through surprisingly enough, this intelligence came from our competitor's own marketing literature, The project was originally specified for Aurora when our competitor stepped-in with their Orion clone, a hybrid of Gemini and Aurora.
Acquiring a copy of their literature disclosed for us significant limitations with their technology. After we used this information in making our rebuttal, most of the units switched back to Aurora, along with orders for three Geminis and four chambered Eclipse units.
It took 15 bid revisions and three months of going back and forth before we finally wrestled the project back to Magnetrol and Orion products, but it's reassuring to know we did it on technical grounds rather than on price alone.
Otion's new Single Rod Aurora MLI will help ensure success in future encounters with #2, as their lead strategy has always been to sell against Aurora's coaxial probe.
